A Video Message From SFBA President, Kristen Seaholm

Transcript

Hello Everyone! My name is Kristen Seaholm and I am honored to be serving as your 2021 president for the WIPA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, serving the greater Northern California region. As we all know, just because 2020 is officially behind us does not mean that things have gotten any easier with this pandemic. However, with each new year brings new opportunities and our incoming board is beyond excited to see what we can do to help support our members, community, and industry.

Our new board got together (virtually) this past Thursday and brainstormed for a solid 5 hours, and we could have gone even longer. I am so excited for you to see everything to come. We will be taking a deeper dive into Community Service and what the means for our members, our industry community, as well as our local communities. We will be focusing on mental health, because let’s be honest, there is no one that has gone unscathed through this pandemic and supporting one another mentally and emotionally is key to our survival. We are taking a greater focus specifically on Diversity & Inclusion, or as Chanda so elegantly put it, “creating a culture of belonging”, which is so deeply engrained in each and every one of us. We have brought on a COVID and Safety Specialist, who will keep us all in the know for what regulations and updates we need to be aware of. And we will continue our efforts in providing the very best education and providing platforms for virtual networking and coming together, until we are able to safely do so in person.

This year will be a year of rebuilding, in every sense of the word. But that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It will make each of us so much stronger and even more resilient than we already are. Most importantly, we are, and always have been, in this together. And although we cannot presently put on events, we can get creative in how we can support one another moving forward. So reach out, let us know where you are and what you’re up to these days. We invite you to take the quick survey below and let us know how we can best support you during these times.

Remember, we will always be greater as a community than as individuals and I thank you for embarking on this amazing journey with us. We won’t let you down.
